The Executive Chairman of Owerri-West LGA, Hon Chief Victor Nnamdi Osigwe IKEOHA, Jp, has released additional two million naira to Councillors of the local government area for Road grading.
The gesture is part of the deliberate efforts to improve rural mobility and stimulate grassroot economic activities in the various wards.
This release which is the second tranche of 2 million naira to each of the 10 Ward Councillors for rural road grading, now makes it a total of four million naira so far for each of them.
According to IKEOHA, " our roads should be accessable and passable by now" hence the rural grading will sustain the administration’s drive for grassroots infrastructural development, ease of vehicular and human movement traffic.
“The backbone of any thriving community is accessibility. We are committed to ensuring that no part of Owerri West is left behind. These roads will not only enhance transportation but also open up our villages to greater opportunities in trade, Agriculture, and other key sectors”, the Executive Chairman assured.
It would be recalled that Hon Chief Osigwe during the Yuletide consciously approved a total of five million naira for each of the Councillors representing the 10 wards in Owerri West LGA and advanced them an initial 2million while directing them to identify roads of major concern in their various wards and make them motorable.
"We are hopeful that by now, the various constituents would have been feeling the impacts of our Councillors as it concerns the rural road grading across board", IKEOHA believes.
