EMPOWERMENT GALORE AT OWERRI WEST LGA WOMEN AUGUST MEETING GRAND FINALE.

Last Monday(31/8/26.) was almost a Christmas day at Umuguma, Owerri-west, as Women, traditional rulers, Community leaders, Political jagguanuts from the various Communities converged for the grand finale of the 2026 Women August meeting.
Addressing the mammoth crowd,; the APC Senatorial Candidate for Owerri Zone, Prince Dr Alex Mbata, who doubled as the Special guest of honour, described the Owerri West LGA Women August meeting Grand finale as one of the very best he had attended recently and encouraged the women to keep the flag flying.
Prince Dr Mbata also spoke of political consciousness and urged the people of Owerri-west, especially the women, to gear up in that direction.
In his speech, a former Owerri-west Council Chairman, Hon Barr Victor Muruako, commended the Women for keeping the beautiful tradition alive as well as for their dedication to the unity, peace and progress of their various Communities.
The Executive Chairman of Owerri West LGA, Hon Victor Osigwe, IKEOHA, while welcoming the guests, expressed profound gratitude to God for the successful celebration and commended the Women for sustaining the rich cultural heritage and communal values associated with the annual August Meeting.
Ikeoha noted that August Meeting remained a significant platform for Women to reconnect with their roots, strengthen bonds of unity, celebrate their cultural heritage and contribute meaningfully to the progress of their families and communities.
He then encouraged them to continue to support one another, promote peace and remain actively involved in initiatives that would advance the development of Owerri West.
The wife of the Executive Chairman Owerri West, Lolo Precious Oluchi Osigwe appreciated the wife of Executive Governor of Imo State, Her Excellency, Barr Dr Chioma Uzodimma, for her policies and programmes which, according to her, have continued to create opportunities and positively impact women and families across Imo State.
Lolo Precious acknowledged her sustained commitment to the welfare, empowerment and advancement of women and children, as well as her support for initiatives that promote the preservation of culture and community values.
In attendance were Rt. Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi (Member for Owerri West State Constituency), Hon Ify Obi(APC State Woman leader), Hon. Chinyere Ofurum(APC State Welfare Officer),Hon Levi Oguike(Former House of Rep Member), Hon Barr BC Nzimako(Pioneer Owerri-west Council Chairman) as well as, former Owerri West Council Chairmen.
Also in attendance were the DG Ahiajoku Centre, Nze Ray Emeana, the APC Chairman Owerri West LGA, Hon Chikadibia Okpe, his Secretary Hon Dr Chukwuma Ononiwu, the Seclog Owerri West, Chief Dr Fidel Onyeneke, Traditional Rulers led by the Chairman Owerri West Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Dr Lucky Okoro .
Also at the occasion were
Ward Councillors led by the leader, Hon Victor Olekaibe, Supervisors and appointees of the LG Chairman.
Other personalities were Hon. Gordon Onuoha, Barr CJ Ihemedu, Nze Athans Okpor, Chairman Owerri West Council of Ohaneze Ndigbo, APC Ward Chairmen, Party Women Leaders, President Generals of the various communities including the Hausa and Youruba communities, and numerous other important dignitaries.
Empowerment items were distributed to communities, there was exhibition of agricultural products, cultural dances as well as march past.
