Last week Friday, the Dan Anyiam Sports complex was agog as activities marking the State at fifty continued.

A novelty football match between the members of the State House of Assembly and their ALGON counterparts took place.

In the match, the ALGON football team beat their House of Assembly members counterpart by a lone goal scored by Chief Okechukwu Okwara of Ideato South.
Earlier before the match, the Heartland Bikers, in their tens, rode their bikes from Owerri to Orlu to Okigwe and back to Owerri to the delight of onlookers.

There was also Heartland bikers and calisthenics display right inside the stadium.
At the end of the day, the State Governor, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, decorated the two teams with medals as well as delivered the giant trophy to the ALGON team.

The events of last Friday which could easily be described as the high point of the Imo at fifty programmes had the State Commissioner for Sports, Hon Ogbonna Onyeocha, at the center, with the full complements of the Cosmos Chukwuemeka-led Imo State Sports writers.
