IMO SWAN MOURNS LATE MR TONNEX CHUKWU

The Imo State Sports Writers(SWAN) has paid a tribute to the Late Ex-Heartland Official, Tonnex Chukwu.
In a release by the Association, the State's Sports Writers Association described the death of the former officer as deeply saddening and devastating.
The deceased, a former Media Officer of Enyimba FC and top official of Heartland FC, passed on after a surgery following a road crash.
The release which was issued by the Secretary of the Association Mr Tunde Liadi said the death has thrown the sporting community in Imo State and beyond into mourning.
Tonnex until his death remained a respected figure in sports journalism and football administration, known for his professionalism, humility, and unwavering passion for the development of the game.
As a former Media Officer of Enyimba FC and later Protocol and Licensing Officer of Heartland FC, Tonnex distinguished himself through diligence, competence, and a deep understanding of football operations having contributed to the clubs administration and media relations for which he left lasting impressions on colleagues and stakeholders across the Nigerian football landscape.
The release quotes the Imo SWAN Chairman, Mr Cosmos Chukwuemeka as describing the late Tonnex Chukwu as a committed journalist and sports administrator who embodied excellence and dedication.
In his words, “the death of Tonnex Chukwu is a devastating blow to the sports writing fraternity in Imo State and the entire Nigerian football community being a thorough professional, a dependable colleague, as well as a passionate advocate for the growth of sports."
Mr Chukwuemeka recalled his work ethics, integrity, and love for the game which were exemplary adding that the body has lost not just a colleague, but a brother and friend,”
The SWAN helmsman further noted that the late sports journalist served the profession with honour and elevated the standards of sports media practice through his commitment and discipline.
Imo SWAN then extends its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, colleagues at Enyimba FC and Heartland FC, friends, and the wider football and media community during this difficult time just as the body prays that God grants the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
